This Milano Times Hourglass has two chambers that are intentionally asymmetric—a nod to Einstein’s ideas about time and space.
The hourglass is handmade from borosilicate glass using a lampworking process, creating ridges that are tactilely and visually pleasing.
The process involves melting glass with a torch and, once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements.
This style holds five minutes of sand.
- Dimensions (inch):
6.3H x 1.5" D
- Material: Borosilicate Glass
- Originated from: Handmade in Italy
Due to the handmade nature of the product, there might be slight variations in the finish of each piece. Little bubbles, tiny black dots and minor scratches might be found in the glass as a result of the handmade process and are not considered defects.
About the designer
Ichendorf. Milan, Italy.
The company history began back in the early years of the twentieth century in a small town named Quadrath-Ichendorf, near Cologne. Around 1950 a very important change in taste was established: to favor clean shape and purity of material in order to gain a kind of transparency that has no imperfection. Old form and adornment were abolished, in an endless search of new, democratic, and no longer exclusive appearances.
In 1990 Ichendorf Style Center moved and settled in Milan. The great idea at the root of the productive philosophy of Ichendorf is the encounter of tradition and innovation, of ancient techniques and modern lines.
