Rooted in traditional craftsmanship, the Slip-Coated Handmade Mug series celebrates the charm of imperfection and the warmth of everyday rituals. Each mug is carefully formed and coated with white slip—a fine layer of natural clay—then hand-painted with seasonal motifs and finished with a clear glaze. The result is a soft, matte surface enriched with depth, texture, and gentle iron specks from the natural clay body.

This series features two signature designs:
Persimmon – Symbolizing abundance and calm, the persimmon pattern adds a touch of harvest serenity to your daily cup.
Pomegranate – With its vibrant red tones and intricate seeds, the pomegranate represents vitality and joy, making every sip feel festive.

Fired at 1300°C, each mug is non-toxic, food-safe, and uniquely individual—no two are exactly alike. The subtle variations in shape, glaze, and brushstroke are part of their handmade charm.

About the designer

At Cool Banana, we believe in the quiet beauty of imperfection and the soulful warmth of handmade objects. Every piece is crafted entirely by hand using raw mineral clay, fired at 1300°C without any chemical treatment. Behind each creation is Korean ceramicist Kim Soo-hyun (金秀泫), who resides and works in Jingdezhen, China—the historic heart of porcelain. For her, making pottery is a joyful, meditative practice, and each vessel carries a sense of calm, patience, and lived-in beauty. Whether it’s the soft brush of glaze or the uneven rim formed by hand, her work honors both tradition and individuality.
